SCC wins $42m laboratory information system replacement for PathWest

Written by Pulse+IT| | Australian eHealth

US firm SCC Soft Computer has won a $42 million contract to replace the aged Ultra laboratory information system (LIS) used by WA's public pathology service PathWest.

The highly competitive tender, which closed in March last year, saw 17 submissions for the contract, although the outcome was unexpected as SCC does not have a customer in Australia for its SoftLab LIS suite. However, it is understood that it does have some small installations for its anatomical pathology system SoftPathDx.
